FIELD: audio signal processing.

SUBSTANCE: technical result consists in providing the possibility of combining PS-coding using the residual signal and adaptive perceptual stereo L/R-or M/S-coding. The technical result is achieved by generating the first signal and the second signal by perceptual decoding of the bitstream signal; generating, in a frequency-dependent or frequency-independent manner, a downmix signal and a residual signal based on: the sum of the first signal and the second signal and the difference of the first signal and the second signal, or the first signal and the second signal; generating an average stereo signal by performing an upmix operation in response to the downmix signal, the residual signal, and parametric stereo coding parameters, wherein the residual signal indicates an error associated with displaying the first signal and the second signal by the downmix signal and parametric stereo coding parameters; and generating a stereo signal by performing an SBR stereo decoding operation in response to the average stereo signal and the SBR stereo parameters.

EFFECT: possibility of combining PS-coding using the residual signal and adaptive perceptual stereo L/R-or M/S-coding.
