SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for stereo encoding and decoding of audio signals. First signal and the second signal are received. Recovery parameters of high frequencies are accepted. Said downmix signal is extended to a frequency range above the second division frequency by performing a high frequency recovery using high-frequency recovery parameters. Parameters of the up-mix are accepted. First and second signals are mixed to generate the left and right channels of the stereo signal. Moreover, for frequencies below the first division frequency, the mixing comprises performing an inverse sum-difference transformation of the first and second signals, and for frequencies above the first division frequency, the mixing comprises performing parametric upmixing of said downmix signal using upmixing parameters.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of the efficiency of frequency band use.
