FIELD: medicine, therapy and gastroenterology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is intended for modulating the level of secondary bile acid when administered to a subject. The composition contains a purified bacterial population, wherein the purified bacterial population contains a bacterial species that contains 16S rDNA sequence that is at least 97% identical to 16S rDNA sequence shown in any of the SEQ ID NOs: 1, 3 and 4. Also a pharmaceutical formulation comprising the said composition and one or more additional agents are provided. In other embodiments, a method of modulating a secondary bile acid level and a method of treating inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in a subject in need thereof are provided, comprising administering the said composition or the said pharmaceutical formulation to the subject.
EFFECT: use of the group of inventions makes it possible to modulate the level of secondary bile acids.
