FIELD: nuclear energy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for generating energy by nuclear fission. The device comprises a core container made from the material of the core container, the core container accommodating an inner tubular structure made from the material of the inner tubular structure. The inner tubular structure and/or the core container has(s) an inlet and outlet, the device additionally comprises a halide salt melt located in the core container or the inner tubular structure. Moreover, the inner tubular structure contains one or more sections consisting of single-crystal corundum. The invention further relates to methods for controlling nuclear fission processes using a device and to the use of a corundum tube as a structural material in a nuclear fission device.

EFFECT: simplified manufacture of the molten-salt reactor structure and the possibility of increasing compactness by ensuring the neutron transparency of the inner tubular structure while increasing resistance to various scenarios of mechanical stress and to radiation and thermal stresses under various scenarios.
