FIELD: male contraception.
SUBSTANCE: following is provided: a method of non-hormonal contraception for a male subject, comprising administering a composition once daily, the said composition being a sustained release formulation containing: (R)-silodosin as an alpha-1 adrenoceptor antagonist and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The composition is administered at approximately the same time in an effective amount that induces prolonged reversible aspermia, azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia in a male subject, and after an initial period of at least two consecutive days, a delay in taking a subsequent single daily dose does not affect the contraceptive effect.
EFFECT: side effects when using the method are largely limited, the method of administration of the composition is simple, the action is reversible, if there is a delay in the recommended regimen, such a delay does not diminish the effectiveness of contraception.
