FIELD: communication networks.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the design and construction of new or improvement of existing fibre-optic communication networks (FOCN) with wavelength division multiplexing systems. For each of Nij possible multidimensional message transmission routes, the index of their spectral load Gl mnm Nij = ∑(R)(r=1)Gym/R is calculated along with a comprehensive indicator of stability Ks mnm Nij = П(r=1)Kym, a multidimensional route with the highest complex stability index Ks mnm Nij and minimum load Gl mnm Nij is chosen from the set of possible multidimensional message transmission routes Nij, tables are formed for switching of spectral communication channels and distribution of wavelengths between communication nodes in FOCN using information about the totality of possible multidimensional message transmission routes Nij, indicators of their spectral load Gl mnm Nij and integrated indicators of stability Ks mnm Nij.

EFFECT: increased stability of FOCN with wavelength-division multiplexing systems by forming multidimensional routes from one-dimensional routes with the required indicators of stability and spectral load.
