SUBSTANCE: biological method of forest protection. The method for reducing the number of gypsy moth Lymanria dispar includes spraying with an aqueous solution of a biological agent containing the gypsy moth nuclear polyhedrosis virus with a titer of 1×105-1×106 polyhedra/ml, gypsy moth laying after completion of egg laying by butterflies, while for the preparation of an aqueous solution of a biological agent used per 100 ml: gypsy moth nuclear polyhedrosis virus with a titer of 1×109 polyhedra/ml 0.1 ml, wetting agent ETD-90 0.1 ml or wetting agent OP-7 0.04 g, UV protector zinc oxide 0.2 g and water up to 100 ml.

EFFECT: reducing the number of gypsy moth Lymanria dispar allows to extend the period of work due to the preservation of the virus during the entire period of the gypsy moth egg phase, increase productivity due to greater coverage of the protected forest area.
