FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: free-piston gas generator (SPGG) includes cylinder (1) with direct-flow slit purge, compressor cylinders (11), (12), pistons (2) and (3) and receiver (20). Cylinder (1) with straight-through slit purge has exhaust ports (4) and purge inlet ports (5) connected to exhaust manifold (25) and intake manifolds, respectively. Cylinder (1) contains two opposed moving pistons (2) and (3). Pistons (2) and (3) are connected to compressor pistons (9) and (10) located in compressor cylinders (11) and (12). Cylinders (11) and (12) of the compressor are connected to air ducts (13) of the pneumatic starter. Receiver 20 is located in the central part of the SPGG and is connected to compressor cylinders (11) and (12) through exhaust valves (18) and (19). Pistons (1) and (2) are interconnected by a rack and pinion synchronization mechanism. At the inlet to cylinders (11) and (12) of the compressors, two intake air manifolds (23) are installed. In air manifolds (23) there are gas nozzles (21) and (22) for supplying fuel gas. Plugs (27) and pressure and temperature sensor (28) are installed instead of diesel injectors. A bypass valve device connecting receiver (20) and buffer cavities (7) and (8) of compressor cylinders (11) and (12) is used as a fuel mix compression ratio regulator. The method of operation of the SPGG is disclosed.
EFFECT: ensuring the most complete combustion of the fuel mix.
