FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to two-stroke and four-stroke internal combustion engines containing working cylinder with piston, cylinder intake and exhaust ports and channels to supply and let out of working medium. According to first design version, engine contains several interconnected cylinders having common combustion chamber and nozzle to inject fuel when piston approaches top dead center. Adjacent cylinders of engine are interconnected through hole in upper part of wall overlapped by upper part of piston approaching top dead center. According to second design version, engine contains working and compression cylinders whose pistons operate in antiphase. Scavenging of working cylinder is provided from external source opening of intake ports made in lower part of cylinder. According to third design version, engine contains working cylinder whose exhaust ports are made over piston when piston is in bottom dead center. Intake ports are located in upper part of cylinder being connected with intake chamber in which spool is installed to close ports after dosing of exhaust ports by piston. According to fourth design version, engine contains two parallel cylinders whose pistons move in different directions. Intake and exhaust ports of cylinders are controlled by spool. Additional ports of intake and exhaust chambers are interconnected by means of channels with corresponding ports of adjacent cylinder. According to fifth design version, engine contains starting cylinders connected with additional cylinders for bypassing combustion products into cylinders. EFFECT: improved economy and reliability of engine, reduced specific mass per unit of power.
