FIELD: coal sorbents.
SUBSTANCE: method for modifying coal sorbents includes mixing highly calcined fly ash from coal-fired thermal power plants with liquid glass having a silicate modulus of more than 3.5 in an amount of not more than 7% by weight of fly ash at the ambient temperature. The resulting mass is then mixed with coal sorbent. A variant of the method for modifying coal sorbents is proposed, including mixing highly calcined fly ash from coal-fired thermal power plants, liquid glass with a silicate modulus of more than 3.5 in an amount of not more than 7% by weight of fly ash and liquid ash solution saturated with Ca(OH)2 in an amount of up to 15% of the liquid glass volume. After that, the resulting mass is mixed with coal sorbent or converted to the air phase and sprayed onto the sorbent.
EFFECT: simpler generation of a protective film coating on carbon sorbent, control over the number of open pores on the surface of the sorbent, increased stability of the applied coating, and ability of the sorbent to regenerate.
