FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology, clinical immunology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for early detection of the risk of progression of retinal neurodegeneration in diabetic retinopathy associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The determination of indicators of innate immunity of interleukin 1β (IL-1β ), tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase type 2 (ΤΙΜΡ-2), protein S100B (S100B), nerve growth factor (NGF) in the blood serum is performed. With serum values: IL-1β over 2.01 pg/ml; TIMP-2 over 122.5 ng/ml; S100B over 48.4 pg/ml; NGF over 12.3 pg/ml a high risk of progression of retinal neurodegeneration is established.
EFFECT: method helps to assess the prognosis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, which allows, at the preclinical and early stages of diabetic retinopathy, to assess the risk of developing retinal neurodegeneration, by determining a complex of the following immunological parameters in the patient's blood: IL-1β, TIMP-2, S100B and NGF.
