FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and is intended for predicting the rate of progression of glaucoma optic neuropathy. In the tear fluid, the concentrations of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 are determined by the enzyme immunoassay and then the ratio is calculated. With a ratio of MMP-9/TIMP-1 of 163.3±6.5 predict a rapid progression of glaucoma optic neuropathy. With a ratio of MMP-9/TIMP-1 of 61.4±4.8 predict a slow progression. With a ratio of MMP-9/TIMP-1 of 52.9±3.4 predict the stabilization of the process of glaucoma optic neuropathy.
EFFECT: invention provides a simple and non-invasive method for predicting the rate of progression of glaucoma optic neuropathy.
