FIELD: mass spectrometry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio frequency devices for transporting, focusing and retaining ions, namely to mass spectrometry and ion mobility spectrometry of ions. The device for transporting and focusing ions comprises an ion source, a surface on which an array of radio frequency electrodes is located, and at least one electrode located opposite said surface and forming an ion transfer channel together with it. At least one electrode is made with at least one DC potential, and said surface with an array of radio frequency electrodes is located along the ion transfer channel. A method for transporting and focusing ions is also described.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of transport and focusing of ions and the stability of the characteristics of the entire mass spectrometer at a high load of the device and continuous analysis.
