FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio-frequency devices for transportation, focusing and retention of ions, which are used in applications of mass spectrometry and ion mobility spectrometry. Ion transport device comprises an ion transport channel, having an inlet and an outlet ends, limited by surfaces, on which there are radio-frequency and/or DC electrodes, which create a travelling wave field, which directs ions to the output end of the channel. At that, in the output part of the device there are electrodes providing the function of ion fragmentation or thermolisation, which differ from other electrodes located on the rest part of the device by the power supply mode and/or geometry.
EFFECT: high efficiency of transporting ions to the next chamber with a different pressure while providing high sensitivity of the device at short data accumulation times, reducing the gas load on the pumps in subsequent stages, as well as preventing the ion packets from being blurred during their transport through the device, which enables to prepare ion packets for subsequent manipulations at the next stages of the mass spectrometer.
