ION FRAGMENTATION DEVICE Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC H01J49/00

Abstract RU 2824942 C1

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mass spectrometry of ion mobility spectrometry, namely to fragmentation of ions in collision cells. Ion fragmentation device comprises an ion transport channel having inlet and outlet ends, limited by surfaces, on which there are radio-frequency and/or DC electrodes, which create a travelling wave field, which directs ions to the output end of the channel. At that, in the middle part of the device there are electrodes providing the function of ion fragmentation and thermolisation, differing from other electrodes located on the rest part of the device by the power supply mode and/or geometry.

EFFECT: high efficiency of fragmentation while ensuring effective transportation of ions through all component parts of the LED, reduced loss of ions in the LED and increased sensitivity of the analysis, reduced time spreading of ion packets, reduced pressure in adjacent chambers of the mass spectrometer, which enables to use pumps with a lower pumping rate.
