ION TRANSPORT AND SEPARATION DEVICE Russian patent published in 2025 - IPC H01J49/00

Abstract RU 2835992 C1

FIELD: electric elements.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to separation of ions by their properties, particularly by their mobility and/or M/z ratio. Ion transportation and separation device comprises a first surface and a second surface located in parallel at a distance from each other, external electrodes located on sides of the first and second surfaces, a plurality of electrodes located on the first and second surfaces, divided into groups, on which several supply alternating voltages are applied, which create a field that holds ions between the surfaces, and a travelling wave field transporting ions from the input to the output of the device. Some of the plurality of electrodes located on the first and second surfaces are made with possibility of supplying periodic blocking voltages to them, passing to the output of the device some ions having the selected average speed of ions along the channel.

EFFECT: high efficiency of transporting and separating ions, simplifying the design, providing separation of ions by their combination of properties – mobility, collision cross section (CCS) and ratio M/z, enabling flexible adjustment of operating modes.
