FIELD: inorganic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for the continuous production of purified potassium sulphate and sodium sulphate, which includes the following steps: a) obtaining a solution containing potassium sulphate and sodium sulphate by reacting potassium carbonate and sodium carbonate with sulfuric acid in an aqueous medium; b) crystallization of the resulting solution by cooling it in the first crystallizer to a temperature of 0-15°C obtaining crystals of potassium sulphate and a mother liquor supersaturated with sodium sulphate; c) crystallization of the mother liquor obtained in step (b) in the second crystallizer by cooling it in the second crystallizer to a temperature of 0-15°C obtaining crystals of sodium sulphate and the mother liquor, while in the process of crystallization in step (c) in the mother liquor obtained in step (b), add sodium sulphate in the form of a solid salt; d) sending the mother liquor obtained in step (c) to step (a); e) drying the crystallized salts of potassium sulphate and sodium sulphate, while the crystallized salts obtained in steps (b) and (c) are washed with water in a pulsating column. The invention also relates to a plant for the continuous production of purified potassium sulphate and sodium sulphate.
EFFECT: reducing the energy consumption of the process, reducing product losses at the washing step, obtain potassium sulphates and sodium sulphates of high purity, eliminating the formation of liquid wastes and the need for their disposal.
