SUBSTANCE: in the retaining wall containing the steps made of the combination of heavy fascines 3 and gabion mattresses 4 folded in layers, heavy fascines 3 laid in the first 1 and second 2 steps are made of bags filled with local soil wrapped in a shell of two layers of geomats 6 tied in three places. The length of the fascines is taken as 2.0-2.4 m, and the diameter of the fascines is 0.4-0.6 m. Gabion mattresses 4 are made of layers of biomats 9 and perforated drainage pipes 10 passing in two lines in the middle of the layers of biomats 9 wrapped in gabion mesh. Gabion mattresses 4 with drainage pipes 10 are made with a length of 2.5-3.0 m and are laid across steps 1, 2 by cutting into the slope. On top of the second step 2 on the slope, a lining of flexible mattresses 12 is provided filled with layers of geomats 6 laid along the slope. Along the base of the first stage 1 and the riverbed, a flexible mattress in the form of apron 13 is provided that is made of geogrids 14 with the cells filled with gravel and pebbles and wrapped in gabion mesh. The retaining wall acts a protective structure and drainage devices at the same time providing reliable protection of the coastal slope against collapse and safe drainage of ground and surface water.

EFFECT: engineering protection of coastal zones against potential erosion and collapse in flat and foothill, hard-to-reach areas of small rivers.
