FIELD: production of colour images.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and method for determining the ink formulation. The method includes providing a database with a plurality of data sets, user determining a target application method, a target base, and a desired target tint, performing a search in the database, and, if at least one suitable data set is found, displaying of the paint formulation information stored in at least one dataset. In this case, the data set also contains information about at least one reference shade, a reference application method and a reference base. A reference shade is obtained by applying an ink according to the recipe to which the information contained in the data set relates to a reference substrate using a reference application method, the reference application method being different from the application method to which the information contained in the data set refers, and/or the reference framework is different from the framework to which the information contained in the dataset refers.
EFFECT: simplifying the method for determining the formulation and quality control of paint with a given shade.
