METHOD OF PREDICTING THE COURSE OF KERATOCONUS IN CHILDREN AFTER CORNEAL COLLAGEN CROSSLINKING USING ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B3/28 A61B3/10

Abstract RU 2801473 C1

FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict the course of keratoconus in children 12 months after corneal collagen crosslinking. At the preoperative stage, keratometry is performed, the maximum corrected visual acuity (MCVA1) is measured. Then the predicted maximum corrected visual acuity (MCVA2) is calculated 12 months after corneal collagen crosslinking according to the developed mathematical formula. The obtained values are compared with MCVA1. If the difference between MCVA2 and MCVA1 is 0.1 or more, a favorable course of keratoconus is predicted. If this difference is less than 0.1, an unfavorable course of keratoconus is predicted.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reliably predict the course of keratoconus in this group of patients, which, in turn, makes it possible to conduct additional diagnostic studies in a timely manner and determine the optimal tactics for managing the patient.
