SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to ophthalmology. To predict the course of keratoconus in children 12 months after cross-linking, corrected visual acuity and minimum corneal thickness are measured before cross-linking. Maximum corrected visual acuity in decimal system (MCVA) is measured, minimum thickness of cornea is calculated in 12 months after crosslinking in children with keratoconus (CT2) by formula: CT2=49.868+0.866*CT1+14.551*MCVA, where 49.868 is an independent constant; (CT1) — minimum thickness of cornea before cross-linking, mcm. If CT2 is more than 450 mcm, the course of keratoconus is favorable, repeated cross-linking is not required, and dynamic observation by ophthalmologist every 6 months is recommended. If CT2 is from 400 to 450 mcm, then the course of keratoconus is unfavorable and dynamic observation by an ophthalmologist is recommended every 3 months.

EFFECT: method enables predicting the course of keratoconus after crosslinking on the basis of the predicted minimum corneal thickness calculated before cross-linking.
