FIELD: non-destructive testing for diagnosing damage to metal coatings.
SUBSTANCE: to determine the degree of local cracking of a plasmonic metal coating deposited on a dielectric substrate, which consists in determining the characteristic parameter: where n is the surface density of microcracks in the studied area of the coating;
is the average length of microcracks in the investigated area of the coating; ne is the surface density of microcracks of the reference coating;
is the average length of microcracks in the reference coating; I is the intensity of the SERS signal of the reference coverage; Ie is the intensity of the SERS signal of the studied coverage area. To obtain a reference coating, a sample is obtained, which is a dielectric substrate coated with a plasmonic metal with a thickness of 50 to 200 nm, and an external force is applied to it, leading to cracking of the said coating.
EFFECT: increase in the reliability of the results of the study of the metal coating while ensuring the simplicity of survey.
