FIELD: fire fighting equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method is intended for extinguishing fires of oil spills during transportation and is based on the principle of flame extinguishing in narrow channels of a fire-extinguishing cloth based on a basalt mesh, which contains a flexible weighting insert made of heat-resistant rubber along the perimeter, while the diameter of the cells of the basalt mesh is determined taking into account the critical diameter of the flame-extinguishing element channel for the combustible mixture, and the weighting insert increases the mass of the fire-extinguishing cloth to overcome convective flows, which allows covering the fire while being at a safe distance.

EFFECT: improved efficiency of fire extinguishing.
