SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in plastic surgery of a damaged section of the optic nerve. The damaged section of the optic nerve is removed, an autograft being a fragment of the sural nerve is taken with its subsequent suturing into the optic nerve instead of the removed damaged area. When sewing in an autograft fragment, at least two sutures are first applied to the proximal end of the optic nerve and the sewn end of the autograft fragment. Then, at least two sutures are applied to the distal end of the optic nerve and the sutured end of the autograft fragment. In a particular case, a fragment of an insulating rubber film is placed under the sutured fragment of the autograft for the time of suturing. In a particular case, the connection of the proximal end and the distal end of the optic nerve is performed according to the type of bypass anastomosis, that is bypass method. In a particular case, after removal of the damaged area of the optic nerve and autotransplantation, an insulating cuff is formed from bioadhesive to prevent contact of the autograft fragment with surrounding tissues.

EFFECT: method allows to restore the external anatomical integrity of the optic nerve and its electrical conductivity.
