SUBSTANCE: reduced use of memory for temporal prediction in adaptive loop filtering (ALF) with little or no loss in compression efficiency is achieved by the fact that the device for decoding video data includes a memory configured to store video data and one or more processors implemented in circuits and configured to store adaptive loop filter (ALF) parameter sets in a one-dimensional array in memory, the one-dimensional array having a predetermined size of N memory elements, where N is a positive integer value, and one or more processors configured to store, in one or more memory elements of the array, both the corresponding ALF parameters and the value of the identifier (ID) time level, indicating the time level from which the relevant ALF parameters are to be estimated; to decode one or more blocks of video data; and to filter one or more blocks using the ALF parameters of the one-dimensional array.
EFFECT: reducing the use of memory for temporal prediction in adaptive loop filtering (ALF) with little or no loss in compression efficiency.
