FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a gas switch used in high voltage electrical switchgear. The gas switch (1), in which various operating positions are provided and which is intended for insulated placement in a dielectric gas inside the cell (19) of an electrical switchgear, contains at least one housing (2) with a pair of fixed contacts (3, 4) located diametrically opposed to each other, and a movable contact (5) made with the possibility of rotational movement for electrical connection with the specified fixed contacts (3, 4); an arc chamber (6, 7); and an electric arc purge means (8) jointly connected to the moving contact (5). The arc chamber (6, 7) contains a path (9, 10) of communication with the outer part of the housing (2), which provides both the exit of gases arising from the blowing of the electric arc and the entry of pure dielectric gas into the specified arc chamber (6, 7).
EFFECT: providing an insulating environment that is stable with respect to external conditions or environmental conditions.
