FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to production of 3-(quinolin-2-ylmethylene)isoindolin-1-one. A method for producing 3-(quinolin-2-ylmethylene)isoindolin-1-one is disclosed, which consists of stirring a mixture of phthalimide, quinaldine and zinc oxide for 4 hours, followed by cooling, adding hydrochloric acid, isolating the target product and purifying by chromatography, characterized in that the mixture is stirred at a temperature of 240-245°C, the cooled reaction mass is transferred to 150 ml of 15% hydrochloric acid, stirred for 30 minutes, 50 ml of chloroform is added, the organic layer is separated, washed with water, the solvent is distilled off, the residue is dissolved in chloroform and chromatographed on a column filled with silica gel, eluting with a mixture of chloroform and ethanol in a ratio of 50:1 by volume, collecting the main yellow zone, and the solvent is distilled off.
EFFECT: invention reduces the process time, reduces toxicity and increases the yield of 3-(quinolin-2-ylmethylene)isoindolin-1-one.
