FIELD: means for testing optical fibres.
SUBSTANCE: method consists in making a test sample from the optical fibre being tested. For the resulting sample, the magnitude of spectral attenuation, cutoff wavelength, and mode field diameter are determined. The obtained values of these parameters are compared with reference values for known brands of optical fibres, and the brand of optical fibre is identified by the coincidence of the measured and reference values.
EFFECT: increased test reliability.
