FIELD: pigments.

SUBSTANCE: method for producing a green pigment based on zinc oxide doped with cobalt involves processing a solution of a mixture of zinc nitrate hexahydrate and cobalt nitrate hexahydrate, taken in the ratio, mol.: Zn+2:Co+2 =(0.99-0.75):(0.01-0.25) in formic acid followed by annealing. In the case of using 99.7% formic acid, the treatment is carried out at the following metals ratio, mol.: (Zn+2+Co+2):HCOOH=1:2.2, by holding the solution until the spontaneous reaction begins to obtain lilac powder after the end of the reaction. In the case of using 20% formic acid, the treatment is carried out at the ratio, mol.: (Zn+2+Co+2 ):HCOOH=1:2.1, by heating the solution to a temperature of 40-50°C and holding it at this temperature for 1.5-2 hours until a dry residue is obtained in the form of a pink powder. The resulting powders are annealed at a temperature of 800-900°C for 0.5-1 hour.

EFFECT: ability to produce a wide range of shades of green pigment from light green to dark green in a simple and environmentally friendly way.
