SUBSTANCE: invention is related to blanket breeder for generating tritium using neutrons produced by nuclear fusion of deuterium and/or tritium in plasma held in a thermonuclear reactor. The blanket breeder contains the first wall facing the plasma, a reproducing layer, including a lithium-containing material for generating tritium from said neutrons, as well as a neutron moderator material containing yttrium hydride and/or deuteride, located between the first wall and the lithium-containing material.

EFFECT: possibility of efficient use of blanket breeder in compact thermonuclear reactors, simplification and improvement of radiation safety of maintenance.
