FIELD: physics, atomic power.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering and power generation via controlled synthesis of light nuclei in high-temperature plasma using tokamak-type apparatus. The reactor comprises a toroidal chamber with nuclear fuel, a supply microwave generator, magnetic coils, a blanket, protection, a fuel supply system and other elements. To improve stability of the plasma filament and retention time thereof during cold adjustment, closed conductor which can be made of lithium-6 is placed along the axis of the toroid. Owing to the conductor, the toroidal chamber for the microwave field becomes a coaxial resonator with TEM00n-type oscillations. When power of the microwave generator increases, the conductor evaporates and a plasma filament which does not change the type of oscillations is formed in its place.
EFFECT: avoiding interruption of a thermonuclear reaction which has already begun.
