FIELD: forestry.
SUBSTANCE: measuring technology for determining the properties of wood, namely to a method for studying the growth rings of wood. A method for studying wood growth rings has been proposed, including registration, identification and measurement of wood heterogeneity, characterized in that the studies are carried out using a multifunctional scratch method, which consists of scratching the surface of the sample with a probe in the form of an indenter connected to the drive at a depth of immersion of up to 110 mcm and continuous registration of normal Pn and lateral Pl forces acting on the probe and characterizing the mechanical properties of wood.
EFFECT: reduction of labour intensity of research, improved work safety, and ability to use mobile equipment to perform the complete scope of work and to acquire the necessary information.
