FIELD: animal husbandry; ecology; veterinary medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention is used as a test for intravital assessment of the level of strontium in the muscle tissue of cattle. The method includes determining the concentration of zinc in animal hair. Afterwards, the content of stable strontium is calculated using the regression equation: y = -0.0002 x+0.098, where x is the content of Zn (mg/kg) in the hair, y is the content of stable Sr (mg/kg) in the muscles.
EFFECT: invention causes a minimal level of stress and provides an accurate intravital assessment of strontium in the muscle tissue of animals.
