SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the support and guidance of an overhead hauling rope. A device for supporting and guiding a traction rope of a vehicle transportation unit by means of a rope comprises a pulley, first and second beams, at least one restorative and one interacting element. The pulley is designed to support and guide the traction rope. The first beam is provided with a main axle. The second beam supports the pulley and is installed pivotally and movably around the main axis. The restoring element is mounted on the first beam and is configured to capture the second beam in an abnormal operating condition corresponding to the failure of the main axle. The interacting element is mounted on the second beam at a distance from at least one restoring element in normal operating condition, in which the second beam rotates around the main axis. At least one interacting element is configured to contact at least one restorative element in an abnormal operating condition
