SUBSTANCE: portable machines for splitting leather in the direction of its thickness. A splitting machine containing a housing including sidewalls, support and pressure rollers, a blade assembly, a unit for adjusting the position of the knife blade with a handle. The support roller is installed with the possibility of vertical movement through adjustment grooves in the sidewalls of the housing. The central axis of the blade assembly is offset relative to the horizontal axis of symmetry of the support roller. The blade assembly includes a knife shaft with a groove, a lower bar fixed in the groove of the knife shaft with the ability to move in a horizontal plane relative to the groove attached to the knife shaft by means of adjustment grooves, and a removable upper bar. A knife blade placed between the lower and upper bars, in the space formed by a groove in the lower bar and a groove in the upper bar. The blade is oriented relative to the support roller in an area characterized by the angle of the knife blade relative to the vertical symmetry axis of the support roller and the angle of approach of the knife blade. The blade assembly contains a bar with the ability to lift the pressure roller holder. The bar contains a rod connected to the pressure roller holder, which, when the knife shaft is rotated around its axis, by means of a handle, lifts the pressure roller upward. The axis of the pressure roller is offset relative to the vertical line of symmetry of the support roller.

EFFECT: improvement of the quality of leather splitting, ease of replacing the knife blade, and reduction of the labor intensity of adjusting the angle of attack of the knife blade.
