SUBSTANCE: device contains radio modules with various RAT radio access technologies that regularly detect available WAN networks at the location of the multi-mode radio device for a period of time limited by the network search timer, and a network selection controller with the help of which, including data on available networks from an external source, a list of available WAN networks is created, separate communication quality metrics are determined for each network and an overall assessment of the transmission quality in each WAN, and a selection and connection is made within a timer limited to a WAN network from the list in descending order of the overall WAN connection quality assessment with periodic repetition of detection, calculation of the overall assessment and connection to the selected WAN network.

EFFECT: providing the ability for a multi-mode radio device to select the best transmission quality and available WAN network in the time interval with a general or simplified use of radio frequency spectrum bands.
