FIELD: laboratory equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to test lubricating oils in order to determine their tendency to form high-temperature deposits (HTD) in the zone of contact of oils with a hot surface when working in a lubrication system of various objects, as well as to oil in a reservoir. The lubricating oil tester includes a rectangular steel oil tank mounted on a horizontal base at an inclination of 25°, a spindle with fixed needles driven by an electric motor is inserted into the front wall of the tank. The spindle, when rotated, throws oil with needles on a test plate located at the top of the tank. The temperature of the plate and the oil in the tank is maintained by digital controllers. The upper part of the tank has a flange to which a removable cover is screwed, separated from the tank by a gasket with the functions of sealing and reducing heat transfer between the cover and the tank. On the outer side of the cover for collecting oil, there is a vertical ledge that borders the window for placing the test plate, and a hole adjoins the bottom of the ledge for draining oil from the surface of the cover back into the reservoir.
EFFECT: reduced oil losses during operation of the device, which ultimately makes it possible to abandon the procedure for adding oil during testing, to facilitate maintenance of the device by installing a removable cover, and reduced heat transfer from the upper heater of the working plate to the oil in the reservoir.
