METHOD FOR ESTIMATION OF OIL PROPENSITY TO HIGH-TEMPERATURE DEPOSIT FORMATION Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G01N33/30

Abstract RU 2635455 C1

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method involves pumping oil at a rate of 0.001-0.0015 l/h along the bottom of the rectangular recess of a heated and insulated inclined element of the specified length for 4 hours at a temperature, the values of which ranging from 200 to 400°C are distributed along the sections along the length of the inclined element, measuring the current temperature values at certain points of these sections and determining the lacquer deposition start temperature according to the calibration chart of the temperature field along the length of the inclined element. Prior to pumping the engine oil, they place at the bottom of the rectangular recess of the inclined element a plate of a material used to make the pistons of internal combustion engines, with machined outer surface to the roughness grade no lower than 9a (Ra 0.25). Prior to heating the oil under test is pumped at the bottom of the inclined element with the laid plate, the colour distribution coefficient of the fresh analyzed oil on the plate is registered, and at the end of 4 hour oil pumping along the heated plate, the colour distribution coefficient of the lacquer deposits on each section of the plate of a given length, the lacquer mass on the plate by the difference in its weights before and after the test are defined. The generalized index of the oil propensity to the high-temperature deposit formation is calculated from the specified ratio.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy and reliability of the results of estimating the propensity of oils to form high-temperature deposits.
