FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: method for manufacturing large-volume cylinder body blanks for storing and transporting compressed and liquefied gases used at an operating pressure of 31.4-39.2 MPa includes centrifugal casting of steel cylinder body blanks, piercing and broaching of the blanks on forging mills and trimming their top and bottom parts. Casting is carried out on a machine with a horizontal axis of rotation of the mold, the inner surface of which is coated with non-stick zirconium-bentonite paint with a layer thickness of 0.002 m. In heated to 210-220°C steel is fed from the rotating mold at a speed of 40.5 kg/s. The mold is cooled from the outside with water at a flow rate of 3.0 m³/h, and 10 s before the end of pouring, flux is supplied to the stream of poured steel to ensure a thickness of the flux layer of 0.009 m. The cast billet is subjected to shot blasting, thermal and mechanical treatment, and then broaching and calibration in a four-die forging block with draw ratiosμ 1=1.9 andμ 2=1.5 to the required dimensions, according to technical requirements, and a metal utilization factor of 0.85.

EFFECT: minimum allowance for machining is ensured.
