FIELD: water treatment.
SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to the field of purification of drinking and waste water, as well as other liquids by physical, chemical and mechanical methods from suspended solids, oils, petroleum products, and other substances. According to the method, the liquid to be purified is fed into a mass transfer device, in which it is mixed with atmospheric air, subjecting it to separation of contaminant particles, after which it is discharged into a reservoir for the purified liquid, and the contaminants are removed from the surface of the mass transfer device using a scraper mechanism. An air separator is used as a mass transfer device. The air separator consists of an aeration housing and a separation housing in the form of an inverted cone with a hole at the bottom. In the separation housing, heavy fractions of contaminants are separated, which then settle under the influence of gravity, after which they are disposed of. Under the influence of a sharp difference in the partial pressure of oxygen in the atmosphere and in the liquid, air bubbles form, raising an upward flow with lighter fractions of contaminants. When the flow enters the aeration housing of the air separator, it is additionally saturated with a water-air mixture. The saturated flow then rises to the surface in the air separator housing, forming flotation foam, which is then removed.
EFFECT: creating an effective and small-sized process scheme for purifying liquids and a mass transfer device, which simultaneously combines the processes of separation and intensive aeration with flotation elements.
