FIELD: medicine; histology.
SUBSTANCE: used to obtain the posterior pole of the eyeball for histotopographic research. To do this, install a Berraker eyelid speculum. An incision is made in the conjunctiva in the inner corner on the right from 1 to 5 o'clock, on the left from 7 to 11 o'clock, 10 mm from the limbus. The internal rectus muscle is isolated and cut off. The optic nerve is fixed with a clamp and the optic nerve is transected. Rotate the eyeball 160 degrees. The area of the posterior pole of the eyeball is excised. Return the eyeball to its original position.
EFFECT: collecting a large area of the posterior pole of the eyeball without performing enucleation, which allows preserving the anterior segment of the eyeball, does not require the installation of a prosthesis, suturing the eyelids, and does not spoil the appearance of the facial area during pathological examination.
