FIELD: neutrons.
SUBSTANCE: device for pulsed generation of a neutron flux. The device contains M capacitor banks, M discharge devices, each of which is electrically connected to a capacitor bank, N anode-cathode units, each of which is electrically connected to a discharge device and a capacitor bank, and a working chamber configured to supply and discharge working gas, in this case N=2n, where n is the number of pairs of anode-cathode assemblies, in each of which the anode-cathode assemblies are located on the same longitudinal axis of symmetry and face the working ends of the anodes into the internal space of the working chamber towards each other. The device is designed to synchronize the discharges occurring in each pair of anode-cathode units in time.
EFFECT: increase in the neutron output per pulse by more than 4 times, while increasing the stored energy in the capacitor bank by 2 times, without the need for a significant increase in the size of the capacitor bank.
