FIELD: catalysts.
SUBSTANCE: production of polyethylene and obtaining reactor powders of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with a morphology characterized by a small number of molecular entanglements - “open UHMWPE”. A component of the ethylene polymerization catalyst, namely bis{2-[(4-allyloxy-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenylimino)methyl]-4-R2-6-R1-phenoxy}titanium(IV) dichloride has the structure represented by Formula 1, where the substituents R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl C1…C40, cycloalkyl C3…C12, bicycloalkyl C5…C10, alkyl aromatic substituent C7…C70, methoxy group, halogen atom and hydrogen atom. The catalyst for polymerizing ethylene to produce open UHMWPE includes at least one compound of general formula 1, at least one organoaluminum activator, optionally ethylene and at least one hydrocarbon solvent. The method for preparing the catalyst involves mixing in any sequence a compound of general formula 1, an organoaluminum activator, optionally in the presence of ethylene in a hydrocarbon solvent.
EFFECT: production of a catalyst component and an ethylene polymerization catalyst containing this component, and its use to obtain open UHMWPE with an MW of 4.3…16.0 t/mol, melting point 140… 43°C and degree of crystallinity 65-97% and bulk density 0.068…0.117 g×cm-3.
