SUBSTANCE: invention relates to containers for consumer goods, in particular for aerosol-generating products or components of aerosol-generating products. The container (1) for consumer goods contains an outer sleeve (20) and an inner box (10) located inside the outer sleeve (20) and configured to slide inside the outer sleeve (20) between: a first position in which the internal space of the inner box (10) not available to the user; and a second position in which the interior space of the inner box (10) is accessible to the user. The container (1) contains a locking mechanism to prevent the inner box (10) from shifting from the first position to the second position when the inner box (10) is in the first position in the outer sleeve (20).

EFFECT: providing the possibility of reducing the risk of accidental movement of the container lid from the closed position to the open position.
