FIELD: radiography in dentistry and medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to device designs according to the invention, applicable for use in the field of dental and medical X-ray imaging devices. The medical X-ray imaging device contains an X-ray detector, x-ray source, light field indicator, a control system, a support structure and a first frame portion. The X-ray source is configured to generate X-ray radiation and contains a collimator structure functionally connected to the X-ray source. The collimator structure is configured to limit the X-ray radiation generated by the X-ray source into a beam directed towards the X-ray detector and forming an X-ray field of a given configuration. The light field indicator contains a visible light emitting structure and is configured to project a visible light field of a given configuration directed towards the X-ray detector. The control system contains control information related to the imaging mode. An X-ray source, an X-ray detector and a visible light emitting structure are mounted on the support structure. The support structure is made to allow the X-ray source and the visible light emitting structure to be located in the same place relative to the support structure, so that at a given time, when in the same place, the field of a given configuration is directed in the same direction towards the X-ray detector. The first frame portion extends in a first direction and has a first end and a second end. A support structure on which the x-ray source, the x-ray detector and the visible light emitting structure are mounted extends from the first frame part in a second direction at right angles to the first direction.

EFFECT: apparatus of the invention is configured to allow the light field indicator to emit a visible field of a certain configuration from substantially the same location from which the x-ray generating device emits the x-ray beam during exposure to form an image.
