SUBSTANCE: medical imaging device for computed tomography, comprising a first longitudinally extending frame portion, a support structure, an X-ray source and an image detector, which together form an X-ray imaging unit mounted on the support structure, a first drive mechanism configured to move the X-ray imaging unit around a virtual or physical axis of rotation, a control system configured to control said first drive mechanism and simultaneously control the X-ray imaging unit in accordance with the operating mode of said device, patient support mechanically connected to said first frame part and having a patient support surface, which has at least one support element on its two edges or at least one connecting structure for each of at least one support element, wherein the support element is an auxiliary means to help the patient to hold or stay immobile during the exposure to form an image or to assist in keeping the patient immobile.
EFFECT: creation of a computed tomography device, in particular a CBCT device, having features related to a patient support.
