FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in ionizing radiation detectors and CT scanners. First, mixing Y2O3, CeO2, Tb4O7, Al2O3 and Ga2O3, impregnating one or more of them with a source of V. Then, they are dispersed to form a slurry which is dried to form a mixed powder. After that, the resulting powder is sintered at a temperature of not less than 1,400 °C for at least 1 hour. In the method, the scintillator comprises a single crystal or polycrystalline mixed oxide material of the formula (YwTbx)3Al5-yGayO12:Cez, where 0.01≤ w≤0.99, 0.01≤x≤0.99, 0≤y≤3.5 and 0.001≤z≤0.10; w+x+3×z=1, wherein the mixed oxide material is doped with at least 10 illion-1 V.
EFFECT: resulting material is characterized by an increased light output and transparency for visible light, as well as reduced afterglow.
