SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the methods for controlling the radiation pattern of phased array antennas. Essence: a method for controlling the width of the extended beams of a phased antenna array is based on determining the amplitude-phase distribution in its aperture, in which a given radiation pattern is oriented in the direction formation of an extended radiation pattern by partial beams, selection of spatial positions of partial beams only in the region of the main beam of a given radiation pattern, with a given initial in-phase distribution in a phased antenna array with an initial in-phase distribution. To reduce the viewing time of a given sector of space by expanding the antenna radiation pattern while maintaining the energy efficiency of the generated radiation pattern, partial rays are located in the directions corresponding to the required change in the radiation pattern width by rearranging the initial phase distribution of the expanded beam in accordance with the expression , where: - phase distribution of a one-time expanded beam, - expansion coefficient, - phase of the i-th emitter, changed β times.

EFFECT: reducing the viewing time of a given sector of space by expanding the antenna radiation pattern while maintaining the energy efficiency of the generated radiation pattern.
