FIELD: materials.

SUBSTANCE: method for joining parts made of silicon carbide ceramics using iridium. In the method of joining parts, the SiC parts being joined are heated with a layer of iridium placed between them in a vacuum or inert atmosphere and applied pressure. In this case, connection is carried out through an intermediate liquid phase formed as a result of the reaction of iridium with silicon carbide at a temperature of 1600-1800°C, holding time 1-30 minutes, and applied pressure up to 6 MPa.

EFFECT: reduced energy and time costs, carrying out the process in one stage excluding additional preparation of the surfaces of the parts to be joined, connecting parts with complex geometry in a non-pressure way, simplified scheme for producing a silicon carbide product of complex shape.
