FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and can be used in production of parts from ceramic SiC in industrial production. Method of making ceramics involves preparing a mixture containing silicon carbide, silicon and boron, moulding workpieces, carbonisation and reaction sintering in the temperature range of 1,100–1,500 °C. Reaction sintering of components is carried out at temperature of 1,100 °C followed by holding for at least 60 minutes for recrystallization of SiC particles and formation of secondary SiC, then stepwise is heated first to temperature of 1,250 °C followed by holding for at least 40 minutes, and then in the temperature range from 1,450 °C to 1,500 °C is held for at least 30 minutes to form a liquid melt of silicon borides SiB3 and SiB6, which, along with SiC particles, are used to fill cavities and pores in the ceramics, and then the ceramics is cooled to room temperature.
EFFECT: reduced porosity in ceramics.
